Purple Girl Foundation: Terms of Reference for Programme Intern

 

Job Location: Ilupeju, Lagos

The Organisation 

The Purple Girl Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to
empowering the girl child through improved education, learning and character
development with the aim of enhancing their future opportunities.

 

The Role: Programme intern

The Program intern is a contract staff of TPGF, working in all aspects
to include, but not limited to, programme management, grants management,
community engagement, donor stewardship, partnership management (donor-advised
funds) and events. 

Contract Length:

Six (6) months 

Job Description 

General Description: 

The Programmes intern will be responsible for assisting with program
design, development, implementation and project management, and evaluation. He
or she will work with organizations as needed to develop proposals for possible
funding; maintain close coordination with the other programme staff as needed to
accomplish program goals and objectives.

 

In the performance of his/her
duties, under the overall supervision of the Programmes Officer, the Programme
intern will ensure the strengthening of the organization and: 

1.      
Assist in planning, coordination and development
of programmes, events, and meetings (internal & external) and field
projects that support the organisation’s objectives; 

2.      
Develop reports on the overall effectiveness of
each program area; 

3.      
Contribute to the writing of first class,
fundable proposals and reports as necessary for donors and sponsors; 

4.      
Stay informed about, and follow up as necessary
on grant-related issues throughout the grants’ duration; 

5.      
Write and edit articles, reports, materials,
press releases, concept notes for publication in newsletters and online
bulletins;  

6.      
Conduct research on activities and issues using
the internet, library and other information sources; 

7.      
Develop content for the organization’s online
presence (website and social media platforms); 

8.      
Updating the resource library by indexing and
filing all publications received, and circulating the publications
received; 

9.      
Development of donors, partners and contacts
list and databases and update the information regularly; actively participate
in all staff operational/programme meeting; 

10.  
Develop and maintain adequate resource files for
assigned program areas; 

11.  
Conduct research on issues of concern and focus

12.  
The selected candidate will be expected to
devote his/her full time to this employment and expend best efforts on behalf
of the organization. 

 

Requisite Skills 

1. Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written) 

2. Strong interpersonal skill 

3. Creativity and ability to multitask efficiently

5. Ability to meet deadlines while paying attention to details 

6. Ability to achieve stated objectives, especially under
pressure 

8. Good knowledge of the use of major social media platforms
(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) 

10. Personal qualities that include integrity, commitment to the mission
of the foundation, respect for diversity.

 

Qualifications 

1. Bachelor’s degree required; 

2. At least one (1) year relevant experience working with a non-profit
organization, especially in the development sector; 

4. Must have an above average proficiency in the use of computer
packages (Microsoft office package etc).
